Fictitious name permit.

California Business and Professions Code requires medical practices using a fictitious name to disclose the licensed physician behind it. This page is that disclosure.

California requires disclosure when a practice operates under a fictitious name.

California Business and Professions Code section 2415 requires a physician who practices medicine under a name other than the physician's own personal name to obtain a fictitious name permit from the Medical Board of California, and to disclose the licensed physician behind that name.

NorCal ADHD is the fictitious practice name. Samuel Dismond, MD operates the practice under that name as a California-licensed physician. This page is the public disclosure required by section 2415.

The required information, plainly listed.

Practice name (fictitious): NorCal ADHD

Licensed physician: Samuel Dismond, MD

Practice type: Adult ADHD telehealth, California residents only

Operating since: 2018

Mode: Telehealth-first via secure call; scheduled in-person visits when clinically needed; no walk-in clinic

License verification is available through the Medical Board of California's online verification tool.

Public verification is available, free, from the Medical Board of California.

The Medical Board of California maintains a public license verification system. You can verify any California medical license, including Dr. D's, by searching the licensee's name on the Board's online verification page.

The Board's verification page returns the licensee's full name, license number, license status (active, inactive, suspended, etc.), license issue and expiration dates, and any public disciplinary actions on file.

The disclosure rule exists for a reason.

California's fictitious-name rule exists so that patients can identify and verify the licensed physician behind a practice name. Without this rule, a fictitious practice name could obscure who is actually responsible for care.

The rule supports informed consent: a patient knows whose license is on the line for the care they receive, and can look that license up before booking.
